PROJECT BACKGROUND

The original court at South Whidbey Community Park utilized a tile system that proved problematic over time. The surface became slippery when wet and was difficult to clean, leading to significant moss buildup. Additionally, the court’s slope caused tiles to shift during heavy rains, despite being pinned to the asphalt with 12-inch spikes. These spikes frequently dislodged, creating safety hazards. On hot days, the tiles would buckle and rise, further disrupting play and increasing maintenance challenges.

CLIENT REQUIREMENTS

The owner sought a long-lasting, low-maintenance surface that could support year-round use. Key priorities included:

  • Improved surface stability
  • Safer conditions in wet and hot weather
  • Easier maintenance and cleaning
  • A professional look and feel for community use

SOLUTION

Plexipave® Ultra Performance was chosen as the ideal replacement. This high-performance surface provides a textured finish that enhances traction and reduces maintenance. It’s designed to withstand varied weather conditions and maintain playability throughout all seasons.

OUTCOME

With the skilled support of Mont Child and Reed McNeil, the Beynon team delivered an upgraded court that now provides a reliable, all-season playing surface tailored to the community’s needs. The transformation from a problematic tile system to a seamless Plexipave® surface has significantly improved safety, usability, and overall satisfaction.
