Location: 29688 Estepona, Malaga, Spain

General contractor: Plexipave España

Area: 1832m2

Surface: Plexichrome (Pro Purple And Light Green)

THE PROJECT: The project is located in a public sports club in southern Spain. The client wanted to convert a group of two single courts and one double court into three double courts. The courts were older than ten years and the colors of the finish were already fading. While demolishing all three courts, we encountered a thick layer of mud and clay below the former sub-base. An external excavation company had to take away this layer in order to avoid future rising water issues. After this layer was removed, a thick layer of course-grained gravel, a sub-base, asphalt and a ‘Plexipave Standard’ with 2 layers of Acrylic Resurfacer and 4 layers of Plexichrome Color were applied.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS: The client requested that floodlights be installed on all three courts so players could use the courts at night. Between each court, there is a metal bench and a shade construction.

SOLUTION: The client choose the traditional Indian Wells colors, as he was familiar with them from three other courts. Both client and athletes are very happy with the result and keep choosing these courts over others as the colors look fresh and they lighten up the sports club. Even external tennis coaches come to play and teach on these courts.
